hi all, i am creating my own website with dreamweaver and was just wondering if it is possible to get a temporary free domain name and web host so i can test it before i start paying for web space.
is it possible?

Yes there are many ways of doing this but there is no way of getting a .com or .co.uk domain name free.
I suggest you go to http://www.co.cc for a free domain but i think you will need to know what you are doing.

No, you cannot get a free domain name. However, you can get a free domain name when you sign up for web hosting. When you are ready to get online, a good website that you can use is Web Pad Hosting. You can get a domain name and their hosting service for $2.00. Not bad at all for all the features you get with it.

Now, if you just want to upload your website and test it to make sure it works before making it available on a domain name and paying for it, I suggest using a website like Tripod.com. They will give you a free account. It will have an address that looks like this (http://username.tripod.com), but at least you can see how it will look and test it out. Then you can go to a web hosting service and buy the service and get your domain name free. Good luck!

First test your website try: http://www.atspace.com
This site the same as all other free services offer sub-domain not a real domain name, howeve it’s enough for testing your website.
Finally you will need a web host compatible with dreamweaver.
Just refer to thr following domain website and add it to your favorites list to have access whenever you intend to bu your web hosting plan:
http://www.threehosts.com/dreamweaver

Yes.But each & every company should have their own domain name. But before register & buy the domain name we can check the availability of the domain name & as well as the extension as .com .edu .org .in .co.in etc., For new domain registration or transfer a domain you can go through with http://www.tucktail.com/ @ low cost

If you want a free option for a domain name, you can check the following:
http://dot.tk: YourName.tk
http://www.co.cc: YourName.co.cc
http://www.co.nr: YourName.co.nr
You can then redirect this domain to your free hositng account. However, you would not own the domain as per their terms and they will always have the right to cancel your domain.
Therefore, I recommend you to avoid those free options and register your domain names with sites like http://www.JordanSoft.com.
If you register your .com domain name with http://www.JordanSoft.com for $7.99, you will get free Ad-Supported Hosting with 10 GB Disk Space and 150 GB Transfer. This is more than enough for your testing.
